Using Your Small Crock Pot To Cook 3 Amazing Dishes

Slow cookers come in many shapes and sizes. If the one you own is one of the smaller varieties, it’s not that easy to find crock pot recipes that have fewer servings. But don’t worry – here are some recipes you can cook for just yourself and a small group of people using your small crock pot!

   1/- Slow Cooked Classic Sloppy Joes

What you need:

  • 3/4 kilogram ground beef
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Toasted sandwich buns

In a pan over medium heat, cook ground beef, carrot and onion until meat is brown and carrots are tender but firm. Transfer mixture into a slow cooker then add red pepper, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and vinegar to the pot. Season with salt and black pepper then stir to combine ingredients well. Cover and cook for 6 hours on low or for 3 hours on high. Serve over buns.

   2/- Honey and Sesame Crock Pot Chicken

What you need:

  • 1/2 kilogram skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Cornstarch
  • Sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Mix together garlic, honey, onion, soy sauce, ketchup, vegetable oil and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Stir to combine ingredients well. Place the chicken things in a slow cooker then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Pour honey mixture over chicken. Toss to coat. Cover and cook for 3 to 4 hours on high or 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours on high. When ready remove chicken from the pot and slice into chunks. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl then mix with the sauce in the pot to thicken. Return chicken to the slow cooker and coat with thickened sauce. Best served over hot rice.

   3/- Delicious Slow Cooker Beans

What you need:

  • 2 slices bacon, cooked to a crisp and crumbled
  • 1 can pork and beans with sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon dry minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard

Combine pork and beans, brown sugar, ketchup, onion and mustard in a crock pot. Top with crumbled bacon and stir to combine ingredients well. Cover and cook for 4 to 8 hours on low.
